Fall 2019 Workshops
All workshops on this page are in the Second Studio at Nordeast Yoga, 1304 University Ave NE, Minneapolis.
Chanting in Sanskrit: Saturday September 28, 1-4pm
Chanting in Sanskrit is one of the most beautiful ways to access deeper layers of consciousness. This workshop is for anyone with a spark of interest: we will go over pronunciation and meaning, delve into the science of why it feels so good and what it is doing to body and mind, and best of all we will have a good amount of time to chant together and sit in silence afterwards. You will leave with your koshas buzzing.
Yoga Philosophy: Saturday October 26, 1-4pm
This workshop is perfect as an introduction or an opportunity to clarify the central teachings of yoga philosophy. We will situate the teachings of Yoga within the Six Darshanas that refer to the Vedas as scripture, then go on to explore the central points and differences between the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. A dense subject for sure, but we’ll take a lighthearted approach that will focus on relevance to this era and your personal yoga practice. Sometimes getting comfortable with a new paradigm is what you need for a shift in consciousness.
Pranayama: Saturday November 23, 1-4pm
Conscious, vibrant breathing is essential for going down the rabbit hole in your yoga practice. In this workshop we will look at the anatomy, physiology, and energetics of breath, and learn techniques for building a seated pranayama practice. You will learn not just theory but the practical application of these techniques, we will practice them together, and you’ll come away with a game plan for a home pranayama practice that is appropriate for your level of experience.
Each workshop is $35 in advance, $40 day-of. Register for all three workshops for $90.
